Adopt-a-thon for Homeless Pets from Dawn til Dusk for 36 Hours
Bay Area shelters and animal rescues bring adoptable pets together under one roof for marathon 36 hour adoption event.
Dublin & Oakland, CA August 9, 2004 -- Join local shelters and animal rescue groups at either the Oakland SPCA or the Tri-Valley SPCA in Dublin, CA anytime of the dayor night!for 36 straight hours of pet adoptions, beginning Friday, August 27th at 8 AM, and continuing through Saturday, August 28th at 8 PM.
Public and private shelters and animal rescue organizations are overwhelmed daily with incoming animals. While euthanasia rates have dropped considerably in the last seven years, there are still many animals in Alameda County needing a home. Weve got dedicated staff and volunteers staying up all night long to change that, says Gary Templin, President of the East Bay SPCA. An event like this helps the person looking for a pet by bringing many together at one time. All animals available for adoption have been spayed or neutered, or will be before they are sent to their new home.
The facility will remain open from 8AM on Friday, August 27th through 8PM Saturday, August 28th. Organizations expected to participate include Oakland SPCA, Tri-Valley SPCA, Berkeley Humane Society, Valley Humane Society, Tony La Russas Animal Rescue Foundation, Itty Bitty Orphan Kitty Rescue, Hopalong Animal Rescue, Oakland Animal Control, Tri-Valley Animal Rescue, Ohlone Humane Society, and Malamute Rescue.
